Barcelona’s hopes of winning La Liga may depend largely on what happens on Tuesday when the Catalan club welcomes Atletico Madrid to the Camp Nou. Real Madrid is two points clear atop the table with six games to go, and if Barca fails to win this one, they could find themselves trailing their rival by up to five points with five matches remaining. Barca has dropped points in two out of the last three matches and cant afford to do so here.

Barcelona: Conceding late to Celta Vigo certainly hurt, especially when it came on a free kick from Iago Aspas with poor location for its defensive wall. Barca’s next two games will go a long way in deciding whether they are in the contention in a couple weeks. The attack has to be more clinical as three goals in the last two games shows that there is a lot of room for improvement with so much talent in attack. Expect Barca to not run away from this one, and dropping points may just happen again
Atletico Madrid: The club has conceded just 23 times in 32 games and enters on a good run of form. Third place is pretty much locked up at this point, as is a Champions League spot. They can spoil Barcelona’s title challenge potentially with an upset here, and don’t expect Diego Simeone to field anything other than his top squad. This is a club that was supposed to drop off big time after Antoine Griezmann left for Barcelona. Despite there being a lack of goals, the results have been there as of late.
Barcelona gets a narrow victory to move back into first place in La Liga for the time being. Pick: Barcelona 2, Atletico Madrid 1
