The FA cup is also known as The Football Association Challenge Cup is an annual football knockout tournament in men’s domestic English football. It was first played in the year 1871-72, it is the oldest national football competition in the world. It is organized by and named after The Football Association.

The current champions are Manchester City, they have won the cup 6 times so far. Although, the most successful club is Arsenal with 13 titles to their name. Whereas with 12 titles Manchester United are in 2nd position.

Manchester United aim for their 13th title

On Saturday  27th June quarterfinal match was played between Norwich City and Manchester United. Manchester United defeated Norwich in a thrilling match at Wembley stadium. The game went to the extra time, both teams were just able to score 1 goal each by the end of the 90 minutes. Odion Ighalo scored the first goal for United, Norwich midfielder Todd Cantwell scored the equalizer in the 75th minute. The winning goal was scored by Harry Maguire in the 118th minute of the match. The Red Devils are into FA Cup semifinals.

Leicester City lost to Chelsea in a close match

Both the teams played well, but apparently, luck was on Chelsea’s side. The only goal was scored in 63rd minute by Blues midfielder Ross Barkley. Chelsea will face The Red Devils in the semifinal.

Manchester City won 2-0 over Newcastle United

It was a completely one-sided match, Manchester City had the ball with them for 75% of the time. they tried 21 shots on the goal and were successful in getting 2 of them right. The two goals were scored by Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling in the 37th and 68th minute of the match. United players were outplayed by Pep’s City.

Arsenal defeat Sheffield United

Arsenal defeated Sheffield United 2-1 in a thrilling match. Arsenal striker Nicolas Pepe broke the deadlock in the 25th minute of the match by scoring a penalty. Sheffield managed to score an equalizer in the 87th minute of the match, but this was not the end as Arsenal’s midfielder Dani Ceballos scored the winner in the injury time. Arsenal is into the semis and will face Manchester City.
